Gear Review- Kahtoola Crampons

These are the Kahtoola aluminum crampons that I own. My dad and I originally bought these crampons the first time we skied Tuck's which was so many years ago I can't even remember! I think I was 14.

These crampons are absolutely perfect! I have used them every year while hiking in the winter, which proves how well they hold up!  They provide excellent traction in the snow and ice but do not feel bulky or uncomfortable while attached to boots. You adjust the silver metal bar in the middle of the crampon to fit the length of your shoe and then tighten the straps so they are snug to the foot.

For the most part, these crampons stay on the foot with no problems. After wearing them for a few hours you need to re-adjust the straps because they can get loose and start to slip off the foot.

When you are finished with your hike, they compact so both red areas touch and they fit in a small bag that easily attaches to your backpack.
